The <code class="bg-text-200/5 border border-0.5 border-border-300 text-danger-000 whitespace-pre-wrap rounded-[0.4rem] px-1 py-px text-[0.9rem]">yukonSilver</code> platform detection has marked this system as <strong>unsupported</strong> since <strong>January 23, 2026</strong> — spanning the older Squirrel-based installer (v1.1.673) through the current MSIX package (v1.1.7714). This is not a regression; the detection has been incorrect across every version of Claude Desktop that has included the yukonSilver check.</p>
<p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]">The CoworkVMService crashes immediately on startup with "Incorrect function" (exit code 66). The VM never attempts to boot, no HNS network is created, and no virtual adapter is provisioned.</p>
<p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]">Regular Chat mode works perfectly. Only Cowork is affected.</p>

<p class="font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]">The CoworkVMService installs but immediately crashes every time it starts. The UI shows:</p>

Have a Windows 11 Home machine (Build 26200) with Virtual Machine Platform, Windows Hypervisor Platform, and WSL2 enabled
Install Claude Desktop v1.1.7714.0 from claude.ai/download
Open Claude Desktop
Navigate to the Cowork tab
Observe error: "Failed to start Claude's workspace — VM service not running. The service failed to start."
Click "reinstall the workspace" — same error persists
