Feature Request: MCP repo scope
Resolved 💬 6 comments Opened Mar 6, 2025 by CiaranMn Closed Mar 21, 2025
I'm experimenting with Claude Code + MCP Servers.
One thing that tripped me up is that the Claude project config appears to be scoped to whatever directory claude was run from, so if I run claude mcp add in one directory in a repo then move to another directory in the same repo, the mcp config is gone. This is a monorepo using yarn workspaces.
I would expect project scope to refer to the repository rather than the folder claude was run from.
Maybe there could be an explicit repo scope when managing MCP servers. I would imagine this would also be useful for other config that would be unexpectedly absent / different depending on the current working directory.
Thanks!
