Claude Code process exited with code 1

What's Wrong?

Whenever i try to use claude code, an error constantly pops up that says Claude Code process exited with code 1, i have bash installed in the correct directory and it still dosent work.

What Should Happen?

Claude code should be able to run if i have the correct directory for bash

Error Messages/Logs

Claude Code was unable to find CLAUDE_CODE_GIT_BASH_PATH path "C:\Program Files\Git\bin\bash.exe"

Steps to Reproduce

Install Git for Windows from https://git-scm.com/downloads/win, accepting all defaults
Set Windows User environment variable CLAUDE_CODE_GIT_BASH_PATH to C:\Program Files\Git\bin\bash.exe
Install the Claude Code extension in VS Code from the marketplace
Open VS Code and click the Spark icon to open Claude Code
Observe error: "Claude Code was unable to find CLAUDE_CODE_GIT_BASH_PATH path C:\Program Files\Git\bin\bash.exe"
