Environment:

  • OS: Windows 11 Pro
  • Claude Code version: (check with claude --version in terminal)
  • Chrome version: (from chrome://version)
  • Extension ID: fcoeoabgfenejglbffodgkkbkcdhcgfn

## What happened:
The Claude browser extension is installed and active in Chrome, but Claude Code
cannot connect to it. The error message returned is:

"Browser extension is not connected. Please ensure the Claude browser extension
is installed and running (https://claude.ai/chrome), and that you are logged into
claude.ai with the same account as Claude Code."

## Steps taken:

  • Installed extension from https://claude.ai/chrome
  • Logged into claude.ai with the same account used for Claude Code
  • Confirmed accounts match in extension settings
  • Disabled and re-enabled the extension
  • Fully restarted Chrome
  • Kept claude.ai tab open and active
  • Set site access to "On all sites"

## Expected behavior:
Claude Code should detect and connect to the browser extension.

## Actual behavior:
Connection always fails with the above error message. No "Claude Code" or
"Desktop" connection option is visible in the extension sidebar.
