Voice mode — "No speech detected" despite working microphone

What's Wrong?

Hi team! First off, thank you so much for the early access to voice mode — really excited to use this feature.

I'm running into an issue where voice mode consistently returns "no speech detected" when I hold Space and speak. Here's what I've tried so far to troubleshoot:

• Confirmed microphone (MacBook Air built-in mic) works correctly in other apps
• Verified Warp terminal has microphone permission enabled in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone
• Confirmed the correct input device is selected (MacBook Air Microphone, default input, 48kHz)
• Disabled Warp's built-in voice input feature to rule out conflicts
• Tried holding Space for varying durations while speaking clearly
• Toggled voice mode off and back on

Environment:

• macOS 14.5 (Darwin 23.5.0)
• Terminal: Warp
• Hardware: MacBook Air, built-in microphone
• Claude Code version: 2.1.63

What Should Happen?

Claude should detect the voice input when the user holds down the space bar button. New feature that is being rolled out.

Error Messages/Logs

"No speech detected" on every attempt, despite the microphone working normally in other applications.

Steps to Reproduce

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open Warp terminal
2. Run claude to start a Claude Code session
3. Type /voice to enable voice mode
4. See confirmation: "Voice mode enabled. Hold Space to record."
5. Hold Space, speak clearly for 2–3 seconds, then release Space
6. Result: "No speech detected" — every time, regardless of what is said or how long Space is held
