Claude Code incorrectly states Pro plan cannot use Claude Code

Summary

Claude Code (Opus 4.6) provides incorrect information about Anthropic's own subscription plans. When asked about Claude Code availability, it incorrectly states that Claude Code requires the Max plan ($100/$200/month) and that the Pro plan ($20/month) cannot access Claude Code.

What happened

  1. User mentioned they have a Claude Pro subscription
  2. Claude Code responded that Claude Code requires Max plan ($100/$200/month) to use
  3. Claude Code stated that Pro plan ($20/month) users can only use Claude Code temporarily through a promotional offer
  4. All of the above is incorrect — Claude Pro ($20/month) fully supports Claude Code

Expected behavior

Claude Code should accurately know and communicate Anthropic's own product pricing and feature availability. At minimum, it should correctly state which subscription plans support Claude Code.

Why this matters

Incorrect pricing/plan information from Claude itself can:

  • Mislead potential customers into purchasing higher-tier plans unnecessarily
  • Damage trust in Claude's reliability for factual information
  • Reflect poorly on Anthropic when the AI cannot accurately describe its own product offerings

This is not a minor factual error about external knowledge — this is Claude being wrong about its own company's product and pricing, which should be considered a high-priority issue.

Environment

  • Claude Code CLI
  • Model: claude-opus-4-6
  • Date: 2026-02-15
