Problem Statement

I was a ChatGPT Pro subscriber when I discovered OpenClaw. Every demo ran on Claude. I switched — cancelled ChatGPT, signed up for Claude Pro, followed the tutorials, connected my subscription. For the first time, AI felt like an actual assistant: managing emails, playing music on Sonos, organizing my life. I upgraded to Max ($200/month) and went all-in — Claude Code for game development, claude.ai for daily work, OpenClaw as my personal agent via Telegram.
Then I learned this violates the ToS. Not wanting to risk my account, I did the right thing and switched to an API key. Now every OpenClaw interaction costs $0.50–2.00. Playing a song: $0.80. The use cases that convinced me to leave ChatGPT for Claude — expense tracking, smart home, daily briefings — would cost $500–2,000/month on top of my subscription. I tried the local alternative: invested CHF 10,000 in a Mac Studio M3 Ultra. Result: 30-second response times for "hello."
I'm paying $200/month for a subscription I can't use for the use case that brought me here.

Proposed Solution

Extend the Claude Code authentication model — OAuth, rate limiting, usage tracking — to personal AI agents like OpenClaw. The infrastructure exists. The precedent exists. Include rate-limited agent access with Pro/Max subscriptions, compatible with any framework implementing Anthropic's OAuth flow.
Why This Matters

Revenue: Hundreds of thousands of OpenClaw users run local models ($0 for Anthropic) or competitors like Synthetic.new because API costs are prohibitive. These are lost customers.
Brand: "Anthropic profits from OpenClaw hype but bans the users it attracted" is the current narrative. Viral articles from Jan/Feb 2026 document the enforcement wave.
Safety: Users pushed away from Claude run uncensored local models with zero guardrails. A subscription path is better for AI safety.
Precedent: Claude Code, Claude in Chrome, Cowork — Claude is already expanding beyond the chat window. Personal agents are the obvious next step.
