[Bug] Escape key exits text input instead of entering normal mode in vim mode when in editor for questionnaires or feedback

Bug Description
when i press escape like a vimmode aficionado in all of the text fields i expect to go into vim mode, but instead it abandons the text entry and deleted the inputted text. That's not really vimesque. There should be a safeguard for that at least when you're in vim mode. Abandoning entry could be done with :q!
