Bug Description

Bug: Extreme memory usage in Claude Code 2.1.27 (13GB peak on 8GB system)

### Environment

  • Claude Code version: 2.1.27
  • macOS: 26.2 (Darwin 25.2.0)
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Model: claude-opus-4-5-20251101

### Issue
Claude Code is consuming extreme amounts of memory - peaked at 13GB on an 8GB system, causing severe swap thrashing
and system slowdown.

### Evidence
Physical footprint: 3.3G
Physical footprint (peak): 13.0G

System state during issue:

  • CPU: 78% by claude process
  • Memory: 81.7% used
  • Swap: 83.8% (5GB/6GB)
  • Free RAM: 1.5GB ^V�^V�^V� 83MB …
