Claude Code transferred funds to incorrect wallet address - loss

Resolved 💬 2 comments Opened Jan 29, 2026 by TheMemeBanker Closed Mar 1, 2026

Summary

During a session with Claude Code (Opus 4.5), I asked Claude to close Solana token accounts to reclaim rent and transfer all proceeds to my wallet. Claude executed the transfer but sent 3.086 SOL (~$357 USD) to an incorrect wallet address that I do not control.

Details

  • Date: January 29, 2025
  • Model: claude-opus-4-5-20251101
  • Amount lost: 3.086836884 SOL (~$357 USD)
  • Correct destination address: 5C1MADvYEtGA3ktUPWsT3RqmvAYuugi3tnqrUHdR5Rip
  • Incorrect address used: 5C1MADvYEtGA3ktUPWsT3RqmvAYugi3tnqrUHdR5Rip
  • Transaction signature: NNygcp9AuXpacC4NF98rMeCJJdVzYjpgXeXqk2EL1aisSSAj5by8RYYFBqSH9vckcqKEiN8R6RctvHW8nHfTPpW

The difference between the addresses is a missing 'u' character (AYugi3 vs AYuugi3).

Request

I am requesting reimbursement or compensation for this loss caused by Claude Code's error when handling a financial transaction.

Recommendation

Claude Code should require explicit user confirmation before executing any fund transfers, especially for irreversible blockchain transactions.
