[Bug] Chrome Extension Connection Not Detected Despite Active Connection

Bug Description
claude chrome almost never works, even on new installations/macs. it shows like this:
Claude in Chrome[tabs_context]
⎿  Tabs read

also in /chrome everything is connected/green.

but it always says chrome isn't connected. chrome is opened.
