Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing requests and this feature hasn't been requested yet
  • [x] This is a single feature request (not multiple features)

Problem Statement

I've been having multiple issues with claude code. And I have had to downgrade a few times via the NPM method. While i don't mind using the new method to install claude, it doesn't currently provide a way to downgrade if code changes break anything. Additionally, the install method described places files in different locations than that of NPM.

Proposed Solution

Keep NPM or provide a way to downgrade via the scripted installation method. please.

If the deprecated NPM install is just for the documentation and NPM install is still possible then please feel free to close this.

Additional Context

Again if both methods will still be possible for installing claude code the feel free to close.

Kind regards.
