Requirement for create_api_key not met

When trying to authenticate for the first time, I received the following error:
Account role 'owner' does not meet requirements for scope 'org:create_api_key'. One of these roles is required: developer, admin.
I am an admin of the organization; however, I have not created it.
Is there an option to manually do the authentication by providing code the API key manually?
