[Bug] Claude performs destructive git reset on task failure, losing uncommitted work

Resolved 💬 3 comments Opened Jan 10, 2026 by thomas-mangin Closed Jan 13, 2026

Bug Description

When claude realises that he can not complete a task, for example as it is more complicated that initially anticipated, he will sometimes default to resetting a git tree using "git reset" to its last working state, loosing in the process hours of work (and tokens) to make sure all tests are still passing instead of asking the user for its prefered course of action.
