[Bug] Application fails to start on debug/fix-startup branch

Bug Description
The application is failing to start. I am on the 'debug/fix-startup' branch. Please:

1. Analyze 'docker-compose.yml' and 'backend/Dockerfile' for configuration mismatches.
2. Check 'package.json' for conflicting dependencies.
3. Attempt to run 'docker-compose up --build' and use the error logs to fix the code iteratively until the containers stay running.
