What's Wrong?
Please AVOID intruding on well established OS default keyboard shortcuts!
When I select some text on the current webpage and press Cmd-E, Claude Chrome Extension pops up instead! 😠
What Should Happen?
Cmd-E is universally used for "Use selection for Find" for the Mac clipboard. Just like Cmd-C is Copy and Cmd-G is Find Next...

Install the Extension.
Select some text on a page.
Press Command-e, Command-G to search for and go to the next occurrence of said text.

... and to make matters worse - there is no way of configuring this keyboard shortcut!
(Are we heading back to user-attention-grabbing _Yahoo! Seach Toolbar_ or what is this?)

Yes. I re-enabled the plugin and almost instantly marked something while reading some article,
Cmd-E:d it and 💥The Claude Chrome Extension also overrides Google Meet's command+e hotkey which is used for enabling/disabling video.
I think Claude Chrome Extension should allow one to set a different hot key, or disable it altogether, like many other extensions do.

N.b I could probably PR a fix to this _if_ I knew which GH repo the extension lived in
This bothers me too. CMD+E is very close to CMD+W, so it’s really easy to hit it by accident when closing a tab. I end up doing this at least once a day 😅. And I don’t even use the extension directly, I only need it specifically for Claude Code.
Please fix this. Super annoying. Especially because I use CMD+E in various existing in-browser workflows and would never want to use it to bring a Claude panel in to the browser. I already have 10 instances of Claude open as is.
N.b. if anyone wants to feel even more violated, consider that the Google Antigravity (macOS app) also abuses Cmd-E for some equally self-promoting purpose.

It really is a problem for me as well, as Cmd + E is used to transform strings into
codein Github. Is there a workaround except removing the extension?There really should be an option to disable CMD+E as shortcut. It's not only awfully annoying in Chrome but also blocks some functionality in other apps, as already mentioned in this thread.
Just figured it out - in your browser go to Extensions -> Keyboard shortcuts, you can modify the trigger there 🙂
