Use git tags for versioning to make it easier to keep up

What's Wrong or Missing?

Nothing wrong, would be great to have.

Suggested Improvement

The cli update process is completely hidden from the user, when using the "native" installation, so the git tags would be a great easy way to see if I'm using the latest version, rather than having to go into the changelog and find the latest version there.
