Accessibility: Add option to disable animated activity indicator (light sensitivity)

Resolved 💬 3 comments Opened Dec 12, 2025 by gsmethells Closed Dec 16, 2025

Problem

The green wavy bar that appears at the top of the screen during processing can trigger issues for users with light sensitivity, migraines, photosensitivity, or other conditions affected by animated/flashing lights.

Request

Please add a user setting to disable or modify the activity indicator animation:

Suggested options:

  • Completely disable the animated indicator
  • Replace with a static indicator (no animation)
  • Respect system "Reduce Motion" accessibility settings
  • Provide alternative visual indicators (different color, lower contrast, minimal animation)

Impact

This is an accessibility issue that prevents some users from comfortably using Claude Code. Animated indicators should be configurable to accommodate users with various accessibility needs.

User Context

  • The current green wavy animation triggers light sensitivity
  • User needs a way to disable animations entirely
  • This affects ability to use Claude Code for extended periods

Thank you for considering this accessibility improvement!
