[Bug] Homebrew version check compares against latest release instead of formula version

Resolved 💬 3 comments Opened Nov 20, 2025 by eXamadeus Closed Nov 21, 2025

Bug Description

The "update check" for homebrew is busted. It shows that there is an updated version available and says "Use brew upgrade claude-code to update it" which isn't true. The homebrew formula is usually lagged by at least 3 hours. Can you make it so the check doesn't check against the latest available version for claude-code, but the latest available version in the homebrew formula? It's automatically updated, but I see this banner erroneously for at least 3 hours after every single version push....it's so annoying.
