[BUG] No Terminal Isolation, copy and pasting will paste into multiple terminals open while using Multiple WSL terminals in VSCode

Resolved 💬 3 comments Opened Oct 29, 2025 by bryanils Closed Nov 2, 2025

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Often I open multiple sessions of claude in WSL, I have these terminals open in VSCode on windows. I often paste in file paths and things and notice all the time that pasting a path into one instance will fill in the text input of another terminal. This is annoying and extrememly hard to deal with if the text is very long, you cannot simply back space and pressing escappe will stop things so??? You're left in this strange state

What Should Happen?

Each terminal needs it's own isolated space, not sure how this is even happening in the first place as each instance should be it's own thing already

Error Messages/Logs

Steps to Reproduce

Open multiple WSL terminals inside VSCode, open claude code in both, paste a file path in one and watch it show up in the other instance of claude. Especially when claude is working on something and editing files
