What were you trying to do?
Link a GitHub repository to a claude.ai chat so Claude can read its code. Claude Code already reads the same repository normally, so GitHub access and permissions are working.
What happened instead?
Steps:
- In a claude.ai chat inside a Project, click + → Add from GitHub.
- The "Add content from GitHub" dialog lists my repositories, including the one I want.
- Select the repository and click "Add repository".
Result: the dialog closes and no repository attachment appears in the message box. When I then ask Claude to read the repo, it says it received no GitHub tool and no repository content, so it cannot read anything.
Expected: the repository is linked to the chat and Claude can read it through the GitHub connector, as the dialog describes.
Model: Opus 5.5. Observed: Oct 16, 2026, around 04:00 IST.
