[BUG] AI-powered artifact on claude.ai: claude.use("sample") resolves to null on Team plan

What's Wrong?

Note: This happens on claude.ai (web), not in the Claude Code CLI.

An AI-powered artifact published from a claude.ai chat cannot call Claude. The artifact was published with capabilities {"sample": {}}. When the published claude.ai/artifact/... page loads, window.claude exists, but claude.use("sample") resolves to null on every load. No consent prompt appears and no request is sent, so the page cannot generate anything.

This happens while signed in, on a Team plan where the owner has enabled Artifacts, organization-wide sharing, external sharing, email invitations outside the organization, and code execution.

What Should Happen?

claude.use("sample") should return a sampler function (with a consent prompt on first use), and the page should be able to generate text with Claude for signed-in viewers, as described in the help center for AI-powered artifacts on Team plans.

Error Messages/Logs

No error is thrown. claude.use("sample") simply resolves to null.
The status page shows all systems operational.

Steps to Reproduce

1. On a Team plan, ask Claude in a claude.ai chat to build an HTML artifact that calls Claude.
2. Publish it with capabilities {"sample": {}} (runtime contract 0.2.77).
3. Open the published claude.ai/artifact/... link in a desktop web browser while signed in.
4. The page calls await window.claude.use("sample").
5. The result is null every time, so generation never starts.

First observed October 14, 2026; still happening October 15, 2026.

• A support ticket is already open (conversation ID 215476384831163). Support said the engineering team would need to investigate.
• This repo's bug template is for Claude Code, but I couldn't find a better public place to report claude.ai artifact runtime issues. Please redirect me if there is one.
• Is anyone else on a Team plan seeing claude.use("sample") return null?
