[BUG] [Windows] Sidebar differs between two machines on the same version/account
Preflight Checklist
- [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
- [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
- [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code
What's Wrong?
I'm running the exact same Claude Desktop version (2.37337.1 (ba51ab) 2026-10-13T14:04:25.000Z) on two computers with the same account, and the Code tab sidebar looks and behaves differently on each.
Machine A (classic sidebar): the filter menu has Status (Active / Archived / All), Environment, Group by (Folder), Sort by, Show empty groups and Show PR status. I can view archived sessions in the sidebar tree, grouped by folder.
Machine B (new sidebar): the menu only has Group by (Environment), Sort by, Show, New section and View all. There is no Status filter and no "Group by Folder". Archived sessions are only reachable from a separate "View all" screen, as one flat list with no folder grouping.
Screenshots of both menus are attached below.
What Should Happen?
Both installs (same version, same account) should show the same sidebar. The new sidebar should also keep the ability to view archived sessions grouped by folder, and the "View all" screen should support grouping (by folder / environment) instead of a single flat list.
Error Messages/Logs
No error messages. This is a UI inconsistency between two machines.
Steps to Reproduce
- Install Claude Desktop 2.37337.1 on two computers and sign in with the same account.
- Open the Code tab on both.
- Open the sidebar filter/options menu on each.
- Observe that one machine shows the classic menu (Status filter, Group by Folder) and the other shows the new menu (sections, Group by Environment, View all) with no way to group archived sessions by folder.

Is this a regression?
Yes, this worked in a previous version

Additional Information
Note: this is the Desktop app (Code tab), not the CLI, so the Terminal/Shell field doesn't apply.
My preference:
- Keep "Group by Folder" available in the new sidebar, including for archived sessions (e.g. an Active / Archived / All filter that respects the current grouping).
- Support the same grouping options in the "View all" screen instead of a flat list.
- Ideally, offer a setting to choose between the classic and the new sidebar layout, so behavior is consistent across machines.
