Environment

  • Claude desktop app 2.37337.1, Code tab
  • Claude Code 2.1.299
  • macOS 27.0.1

What happened

The desktop Code tab used to show Claude Code usage stats on the new-session screen: an activity calendar heatmap, streaks, session counts and token totals (the desktop usage heatmap referenced in #87772). After a recent update, the new-session screen shows only the folder picker, the environment picker and "Import CLI sessions." The stats view is gone.

Typing /stats in the Code tab now opens only the usage view. The Overview tab (heatmap, favorite model, sessions, active days, longest and current streak) and the Models tab (tokens per day, per-model breakdown) are not shown.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open the Claude desktop app and go to the Code tab.
  2. Start a new session. No stats view appears.
  3. Type /stats. Only usage is shown, with no Overview or Models tabs.

Expected

The full stats view is available somewhere in the desktop app, matching what /stats shows in the CLI.

Actual

The full stats view can only be reached by opening the integrated terminal, running claude and typing /stats there. The usage ring next to the model picker shows only context and plan usage.

Notes

  • The CLI changelog says /cost and /stats were merged into /usage. The CLI still shows the Stats tab, but the desktop app does not.
  • If removing it from the new-session screen was intentional, please consider bringing the stats view back to the desktop UI somewhere.
  • Filed here because /bug returns 403 in both the desktop app and the CLI (see #55348).
