What were you trying to do?
I was trying to use the GitHub integration in regular Claude Chat to attach and access files from my private repositories.
My GitHub account is connected, the Claude GitHub App is installed with access to all repositories, and repository verification succeeds.
I expected “Add from GitHub” to let me select a private repository and make its files available to Claude in the conversation.
What happened instead?
The repository can be selected, but its files and folders are not displayed.
After selecting the repository and branch and clicking “Add repository”, Claude only inserts the GitHub repository URL into the message.
When I then ask Claude to access the repository using the GitHub integration, Claude says that no GitHub integration is active in the conversation.
This happens with multiple private repositories. The same repositories are accessible through Claude Code, so the GitHub App permissions appear to be working correctly.
