Environment

  • Claude Code CLI: 2.1.207 (confirmed latest via claude update → "Claude Code is up to date")
  • Platform: macOS (Darwin 27.0.0)
  • Session started via: claude.ai Cloud App → "remote control" of a local Claude Code session on this Mac

Steps to reproduce

  1. Start a local Claude Code session on a Mac running CLI 2.1.207.
  2. Connect to that session remotely via the claude.ai mobile/web app ("Cloud Code" device picker → select the Mac → new session).
  3. Open the model picker in the running session.

Observed

  • Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5 are selectable.
  • Opus 5.5 and Fable 5.1 are greyed out with the tooltip: "Update Claude Code on the computer on which this session is running to use this model."
  • No update is actually available — claude update reports the CLI is already current, and the installed version matches the latest published npm version of @anthropic-ai/claude-code.

Expected

  • Either all four new models (Opus 5.5, Fable 5.1, Sonnet 5.5, Haiku 5.5) should be available if the CLI genuinely supports them, or the disabled-state tooltip should correctly reflect the real reason (e.g. account/plan gating, staged rollout, or a remote-bridge capability mismatch) instead of pointing to a CLI update that doesn't exist.

Suspicion
This looks like it might be specific to the remote-control path (cloud app controlling a local session) rather than a straightforward CLI version check — selecting Sonnet 5.5/Haiku 5.5 works fine in the same session, which argues against an actual local version mismatch.
