[Feature Request] Auto mode permission handling for directive file edits

Bug Description
To get to a pull request, I need you to unblock the edits by either: - Adding a permission rule that allows edits to the directive files, or - Switching this session out of auto mode so you approve each edit yourself. Once one of those is in place, tell me to continue and I'll make the edits, run the consistency sweep, commit, push, and hand you the pull request URL are you kidding me? please fix this auto mode stuff major blocker for me
