Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing requests and this feature hasn't been requested yet
  • [x] This is a single feature request (not multiple features)

Problem Statement

Follow up from https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/87655 which was closed, but no solution was provided. That issue remained closed even though it got a new reply, and then was locked by a bot.

In short: please allow to keep the useful mouse interactions (scrolling, clicking and selecting text, opening URLs - so no, the suggested solution of CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_MOUSE=1 doesn't address this feature request) while NOT allowing to make accidental choices in the permission prompts and other menu-style interactions.

Rationale: the permission requests and other similar user choices are critical parts of the workflow, but currently is it way too easy to make accidental choices by simply clicking in the terminal window to bring it to front / to focus it (to be able to see what Claude Code is even asking for).

Proposed Solution

A separate option or env variable which specifically disables mouse interaction in those types of menus would be ideal.
