Environment
- Claude Desktop 2.31226.1 (Linux beta, installed via apt)
- Linux Mint 22.2 Xfce edition (based on Ubuntu 24.04), X11
- ThinkPad X260
Steps to reproduce
- Open Claude Desktop and make it the frontmost window.
- Trigger Xfce's "Show Desktop" (Ctrl+Alt+D or the panel button), or run
wmctrl -k on.
Expected behavior
All windows are hidden and the desktop is shown on the first attempt.
Actual behavior
The desktop is not shown on the first attempt; "Show Desktop" has to be triggered twice.
With wmctrl -k on, the desktop briefly appears, then the Claude window comes back to the front (visible flicker). A second run is needed to hide it.
When any other app is in front, Show Desktop works on the first attempt, so this appears specific to Claude Desktop (it seems to re-raise / re-activate its window when it is minimized by the window manager).
Workaround
Minimizing the Claude window first with xdotool (WM_CLASS: com.anthropic.claude) and then running wmctrl -k on shows the desktop in a single action.
