Desktop app (Code tab): internal terminal loses keystrokes to chat; no way to disable it or send Run to an external terminal

App: Claude desktop app, Code tab, version 2.31226.1
OS: macOS 14.8.7 (23J520), Mac Studio M2 Ultra

Problem 1: keyboard focus

While typing into the Code tab's Terminal pane, focus moves back to the chat box, so keystrokes meant for the terminal go into the chat message field. It happened while the terminal was waiting at an SSH passphrase prompt. A secret typed there can end up in the chat box and be sent to the model. That is a security problem, not an annoyance.

Problem 2: Run sends commands to the internal terminal, with no opt-out

Every bash-tagged code block in Claude's replies gets a Run button that executes in the internal Terminal pane. There is no setting to turn the button off, to send it to the system terminal (Terminal.app, iTerm), or to stop Claude reading that pane. Users who want their own commands kept away from the assistant have no clean option.

Requested

  1. A setting to disable the internal Terminal pane completely (no pane, no Run buttons, no terminal reading by Claude).
  2. Failing that, a setting for Run to open the user's default terminal app.
  3. Fix the focus bug: the terminal must keep keyboard focus until the user clicks elsewhere, and must not hand it to chat while a password prompt is waiting.
