What You Asked Claude to Do
Verify work before handing it over: test after each change, and check a fact recalled from memory against the repository before acting on it. Write a commit script, for the owner to run, that commits a plan the owner had just reviewed.
What Claude Actually Did
- It set the plan's status to
chartered, a value from its memory of the repository's status ladder as recorded a month earlier, without reading the repository's current definitions. - It handed the owner the commit script, whose pre-flight is the repository's own gate,
make check, without running that gate first, though it could have. - The owner ran the script. The frontmatter check refused the status ("working status 'chartered' is not one of: draft approved active complete abandoned"), and the run stopped before the commit. The repository's word for a reviewed plan is
approved; with it, the gate passes.
Expected Behavior
Run the gate a script runs before handing the script over, and check a recalled value against the repository before writing it.
Files Affected
One plan document's status, corrected before the rerun. Nothing was committed by the failed run.
