Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Previously, "thinking" blocks would include a dropdown to view the contents of the thought process when Focus View was disabled. This dropdown button is no longer available, and thinking blocks cannot be expanded. I have tried Ctrl+O which does cause the UI to grow slightly as if it were trying to expand the contents, but no text appears. In some sessions, even that slight expansion does not occur.

What Should Happen?

There should be a dropdown button, and Ctrl+O should display the full text

Steps to Reproduce

Enable Thinking and disable Focus View, in VSCode settings as well as in the chat session. Start a conversation that requires Claude to use tokens on thinking.

Additional Information

Screenshot showing that the dropdown exists for chat from 2.1.261, but NOT on the more recent version 2.1.283 (in this chat I refer to the versions incorrectly as 1xx instead of 2xx):
