Bug Description
Bug report: Agent tool effort parameter ignored for named spawns (in-process teammates)

Version: Claude Code 2.1.295, macOS

Setup: Agent teams enabled (CLAUDE_CODE_EXPERIMENTAL_AGENT_TEAMS=1), teammateMode: "in-process", lead session running at effort high.

Steps:

  1. In one message, spawn two agents with the Agent tool. Both use model: "opus", effort: "low" and the prompt "Reply with the single word OK. No tool calls."
  • A: no name
  • B: name: "repro-named"
  1. Check "effort" in each transcript under ~/.claude/projects/<project>/<session>/subagents/.

Expected: Both agents run at effort low.

Actual:

  • A (unnamed, background subagent): "effort":"low", which is correct.
  • B (named, spawned as an in_process_teammate via mailbox): "effort":"high". The effort parameter is silently dropped and the teammate runs at the lead session's effort level.

The model was applied correctly in both cases (claude-opus-5-5); only effort is lost.

Note: This matches the pattern of #83920, where the model parameter was ignored for named teammate spawns. The same parameter-forwarding gap appears to affect effort on the teammate spawn path.

Environment Info

  • Platform: darwin
  • Terminal: ghostty
  • Version: 2.1.295
  • Feedback ID: 5c17902f-48b7-4ce4-84e4-55efd03f6a30

Related: #80569 (teammates also ignore effort: from subagent definition frontmatter — same teammate spawn path, different source of the effort value).
