What's Wrong?

In the desktop app file pane, a markdown link to file.md#heading opens the preview tab but does not scroll to the heading. file.md:line opens the code view at the line but switching to preview jumps to the top.

What Should Happen?

Expected: preview scrolls to the anchor.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. In the Claude Code desktop app (Code tab), have Claude reply with a markdown link into a local .md file that has ## headings, for example [§5 Proposed Solution](docs/dr/some-doc.md#5-proposed-solution).
  2. Click the link. The file pane opens the file in the preview tab, scrolled to the top.
  3. Have Claude link the same place as [docs/dr/some-doc.md:243](docs/dr/some-doc.md:243). Click it. The code view opens at line 243.
  4. Switch that tab to preview. It jumps to the top.

Additional Information

Observed on 2026-10-07 while being walked through a 600-line design doc step by step; every step linked into the doc and none of the links landed on the section in preview.

Related: #57978 (intra-doc anchor links in the preview pane, auto-closed for inactivity) and #83475 (:N suffix on markdown links on Windows).

Platform

Claude Code desktop app, macOS (Darwin 25.5.0).
