[GitHub integration] Repo shows as connected in settings, but Cowork / cloud sessions can't access it

I connected my GitHub account and installed the Claude GitHub App on my personal account. In Settings → Connectors → GitHub Integration, everything shows green: "GitHub account connected", "Claude GitHub App – Installed", and "Check repository status" confirmed that cloud sessions can work in my private repository.

I then asked Claude in a Cowork session (inside a Project, cloud workspace) to clone the repo, make code changes and push a branch for my Vercel deployment.

What were you trying to do?

What happened instead?

Claude could not reach the repository. Every attempt (gh api, git clone over HTTPS) returned:

"GitHub access to this repository is not enabled for this session. Use add_repo to request access."

There is no add_repo tool available in the session, and Claude has no way to request access from inside the chat. Starting a new chat gave the same result.

When I went back to Settings → Connectors → GitHub Integration, "Check repository status" no longer showed my repo (it had reset to the empty "owner/repo" selector), even though the account and the GitHub App still show as connected and installed.

Expected: once the GitHub App is installed and the repo check passes, Cowork/cloud sessions in my Project should be able to read and push to that repo, or there should be a clear way to attach the repo to the session.

Other connectors (Vercel, Supabase) work fine in the same session.
